WiFi Router With “Pregnant Woman” Setting Launched, Xiaomi Calls It Stupid ~ GETPCGAMESET

The impact of wireless data frequencies on our health may be a matter of research but a Chinese Company has decided to be proactive about it and invented a WiFi router that can be set to “pregnant women” mode, that will help cutting the router’s electromagnetic radiation by about 70%, as BBC reported.

The Chinese company and Xiaomi rival Qihoo has invented this device, which offers the low radiation setting meant for pregnant women, in addition to two more settings namely, “wall penetration” and “balance”. The impact of wireless radiation on our health is yet to be decoded, but many studies have failed to find any such negative health hazards associated with WiFi.

The BabySafe Project, A U.S.-based nonprofit group, is researching into the potential threats that the wireless radiation could impose on pregnant women with the use of cell phones. It urged pregnant women to stay away from such devices that emit low-level radiation.

According to the BBC, however, some companies in China see Qihoo’s new device release as pure fear-mongering. Interestingly, hardware company Xiaomi, retorted by posting that: “The so-called pregnancy mode is just a marketing tactic. Wi-Fi usage is safe, so please rest assured when using it.”

Xiaomi has recently released its news router, the Mi. The company said: “We firmly oppose, and feel ashamed of, those who create rumors and arouse instability for business purposes.”

When asked about his take at such invention. Qihoo CEO Zhou Hongyi said that they’d just have to wait and see which side had a better understanding about the impact of electromagnetic radiation.

The Qihoo president Zhou Hongyi retaliated by saying: “We will wait and see who has a more profound understanding of Wi-Fi routers, me or our competitors.”

Well, the battle has surged and it would be interesting to see what the competitors have to offer.
