Prince of Persia is a computer game developed by Jordan Mechner from Broderbund software company in 1989. Animation techniques used in this game makes the characters seem to move smoothly while running, walking, jumping, or playing swords. Animation techniques such, has not been widely used in other computer games in those days.

The game was against the backdrop of a story and requires the main characters (the Prince, Prince, a character that can be driven by the player in this game) for an adventure in solving the problem. After the first generation which was published in 1989, then followed by several subsequent series with the same main character.

Gameplay

The main character, the Prince (Prince), originally was a street child who lives in the streets of Persia (now Iran). One time he met with the Sultan of Persia Princess (Princess). He is very interested in the beauty of the princess who like the moon that rises from heaven. The daughter also seems to back the love of children which will become the prince.

Until one day, the Sultan of Persia had to go to war in a distant place. Knowing sultannya go, Jaffar, one of the top brass (Grand vizier) in the country, trying to seize power for himself sultan. He even forced the Princess to marry her.

But of course the Princess would reject the proposal Jaffar who was his father seized power. With her magic, Jaffar then gave an ultimatum to the princess: Marry him or else he will die within one hour. Nothing can be done daughter at the time. The only hope they have is the lover who could save him.

But the Princess did not know that her lover had been captured by Jaffar in an underground prison. Prison is guarded by a sword-wielding guards. To be able to save the princess, the prince candidate must be able to escape from the prison through the winding roads and dangerous, cliff jumping, climbing wall, past the guards, and avoid the various traps that can kill him right then and there.

This is where the game begins. Players must move the character of the candidate is feeling adventurous prince while out of jail in an attempt to save the princess. Although the daughter was held captive and helpless, but in a time he could still help by sending a white pet rat to help. Adventure that should be resolved as soon as possible, should not be more than an hour.

When too late, then the daughter will die and the game ends. If successful, then towards the end of the game characters will be meeting with Jaffar. He should be able to defeat Jaffar in a sword game so he could save the princess. When Jaffar undefeated, then the influence of his magic will disappear and daughter could be saved.

After the princess was saved and the Sultan returned from the war, the hero then married to the princess. He was appointed Prince of Persia. They live happily, though not forever because in the next series of the game Jaffar again disturb their peace.
